Hello,
Ernest Hemingway got Nobel prize for “The old man and the sea“.
Last night I read it. I was looking for symbolism in the entire story but I failed because there’s none.
Then I started wondering if not symbolism, what made it a master piece – its deliberate simplicity.
It is just a story about a fisherman, a boy, a sea and defeat and indomitable will of a man. Nothing else. It was my mind that was looking for metaphoric resonances when there was none.
Nine out of ten times we boggle our mind in the web of complexities.
I learnt in mathematics- straight line is the shortest distance between two points.
There’s no glory in failure or wasting time.
Want to do something?
Do it. Simple.
